YESTERDAYS' JOURNEYS
Inge and Marc Doesburg
1 April - 28 May 2023
Dunedin printmaker Inge Doesburg was born 1965 in Düsseldorf, Germany. She studied advertising and dressmaking in Germany before immigrating to New Zealand in 1988. Inge holds a Diploma in Fine Arts with Honours and a major in printmaking (1993) from the Dunedin School of Art. She has exhibited around New Zealand since 1991, as well as contributing works to a number of group shows in Japan, Australia and Germany. Her work is held in private collections both nationally and internationally. She finds inspiration in the great outdoors. Clouds and atmosphere are a recurring theme in all forms of media. Over the years, she has expanded her practice beyond printmaking to include mixed media works, painting and photography, continuing her exploration of the visual textures and vistas of New Zealand’s South Island. This exhibition brings together a selection of paintings, prints and photographs.
Marc Doesburg was born in Dunedin of Dutch descent. He grew up in several New Zealand cities and lived in the Netherlands and Germany in the 1980s. Marc is an ardent photographer and world traveller. Inquisitive and reflective, he looks outward at our experience of the world, offering a set of black and white images, “carefully composed in an attempt to create order and express an internal view.” This exhibition brings together a selection of photographs spanning a period of almost 50 years. It is a personal journey of documentary photography of places he has lived in and visited in his lifetime.
