Welcome Gifts to the
Permanent Collection

7 August - 28 September 2021

The Gallery has been very fortunate to have received a number of gifts to the permanent collection over the past 2-3 years. This exhibition showcases some of those works, as well as a number of purchases made with the support of the wider arts community. Included are paintings by Evelyn Page, Michael Smither, Alan Pearson, Philip Trusttum, Nigel Brown, Gregory O’Brien and Euan Macleod; photographs by Laurence Aberhart and Mark Adams; etchings by Jo Ogier; and sculptures by Gregory O’Brien and Denis O’Connor. Of special note are six Southland historic drawings dating from 1856 by early surveyor John Turnbull Thomson from his field diaries. These were purchased with the assistance of the Hokonui Runanga.
