ELIZA GLYN
Perpetual Motion
19 September - 15 November
Eliza Glyn is a painter based in Port Chalmers, New Zealand. She was educated at the Steiner and Krishnamurti Schools in Hampshire, UK before completing a degree in visual art and contemporary dance at Bennington College, Vermont, USA. Since relocating to Aotearoa in 2008, she has presented numerous solo exhibitions and her work has been reviewed in Art New Zealand and featured in Landfall Tauraka: Aotearoa Art and Writing.
Glyn maintains a sustained studio practice grounded in experiences of chaotic domesticity. Her still life's have an electric pulse to them, attuned to the leakiness of boundaries, what Glyn calls the ‘clashing together of parenthood and my art life. Glyn wants us to feel the joy and rhythms of chaos- where ‘work’ and ‘life’—or painting and parenting are tethered to each other in perpetual motion.
