ELIZA GLYN
Perpetual Motion

Originally from the United Kingdom, Eliza Glyn is a painter and draughtswoman based in Port Chalmers, Dunedin. She was educated at a Steiner school and the Krishnamurti School in Hampshire before completing a degree in visual art and contemporary dance at Bennington College in Vermont in 1999. Since relocating to Aotearoa in 2008, she has presented numerous solo exhibitions across Aotearoa, and her work has been reviewed in Art New Zealand and featured in Landfall Tauraka: Aotearoa art and writing. 

From her studio in Port Chalmers, Glyn maintains a sustained studio practice grounded in long-form painterly research. The work Glyn presents for this show marks something of a departure from her iconic west harbour landscapes, moving toward something more experiential, both mystical and domestic. This new body of work seeks a deeper inquiry into questions of perception and subjectivity through both the Catlins riverscapes and recent still lifes.
