Daegan Wells, Wetlands, an urban intervention/installation, 2014
TIMELY ADDITIONS
28 September - 1 December
This exhibition is a partnership between the Eastern Southland Gallery and The Physics Room in ÅŒtautahi Christchurch.
Featuring works by Audrey Baldwin, Daegan Wells, Gaby Montejo, Liv Worsnop, Lonnie Hutchinson, Nathan Pohio, Rob Hood, Zina Swanson who contributed to Christchurch’s post-quake environment. Timely Additions examines the contemporary role of public art and its impact on place and place-making. This exhibition features documentation of public art projects that have occurred in post-quake Christchurch, which, when observed together might define a neo-regionalism, or at least suggest a visual vocabulary of site following a dramatic change in landscape. Collection items from the Eastern Southland Gallery that depict the pre-quake environment of Waitaha Canterbury and Christchurch will be exhibited alongside the work of contemporary artists, many of whom are based and make work in Christchurch.
