NEW PERSPECTIVES
ON LANDSCAPE

15 December 2018 – 10 February 2019
New Perspectives is a group exhibition of five recent Masters of Fine Arts graduates from the Dunedin School of Art: Fiona Van Oyen, Sue Pearce, Robyn Bardas, Miranda Joseph and Hannah Joynt. Capturing landscapes and the natural world has a long tradition of inspiring artists throughout art history and the five artists in this exhibition continue to be drawn to this subject and provide us with a fresh approach about the places we inhabit. Awareness of the current environmental crisis has, in part, been one of the imperatives for this but also there are challenges of dealing directly with the landscape. Each artist has approached the subject from a very particular perspective. Their means are also quite different (print, photography, drawing, painting and combinations of these). What makes them coherent as a group is a desire to re-examine, through their work, individual modes of looking and seeing place. This touring exhibition is curated by Clive Humphreys from the Dunedin School of Art.
