The Eastern Southland Gallery’s latest fundraiser is a collaborative exhibition and fundraising project, celebrating creativity, community, and our connection to the river. Artists and local personalities have been invited to transform a simple brown trout silhouette into an original work of art. Each participant began with the same trout-shaped board, but where it went from there was entirely up to them. They could paint it, draw on it, carve it, sculpt it, or embellish it.

Together, these artworks will feature in an exhibition in the new front exhibition space of the Māruawai Centre.
The exhibition will culminate in a fundraising evening where each trout will be offered for auction. All proceeds will go towards the completion of permanent art installations that help tell stories within the Old Hokonui Museum.
