Temporary Exhibitions

As well as permanent displays featuring the John Money and Ralph Hotere Collections, the Eastern Southland Gallery has two temporary exhibition spaces offering a changing programme of solo, group and touring exhibitions by national and international artists.

Examines the role of public art and its impact on place and place-making in post-quake Christchurch. An exhibition in partnership with The Physics Room Contemporary Art Space in Christchurch.

Showcases a selection of works donated to the Gallery by significant NZ painter Nigel Brown and his partner Sue McLaughlin including many paintings from when the couple lived at Cosy Nook on the southern coast.

Classic Kelliher landscapes by Peter McIntyre and Austen Deans alongside the Trust’s recent acquisitions by some of the best-known artists of the era such as Toss Woollaston, Michael Smither, Dick Frizzell and Stanley Palmer.
